In Texas there are no state requirements regarding residential contractors. The companies holding certification by the Certified Master Builder Corporation(TM) Program have volunteered to meet and maintain written criteria of construction performance, warranted work and financial management.

Certified Master Builder/Remodelers meet the following criterion:
PERFORMANCE
STANDARDS FINANCIAL REFERENCES

?Certified Master Builder and Remodeler Companies have nationally accepted written performance standards by which work may be evaluated. These standards are available for buyer review. ?At time of initial application, and for each annual certification, every company and its principal owners must meet both current and historical fiduciary responsibility criteria. ?At time of application the Certified Master Builder Corporation(TM) collects references from suppliers, subcontractors, financial institutions, and homeowners.
?Annual recertification requirements include additional homeowner references.

WARRANTY EXPERIENCE EDUCATION

?Provision of a minimum one-year written warranty on all residential construction.
?Every warranty must include the option of the homeowner to compel the Company to settle disputes through the conciliation/arbitration procedures of the Program. ?An established history of residential construction including volume and monetary accumulation criteria. ?Representatives of the Builder/Remodeler Companies are required to fulfill continuing education requirements staying abreast of industry standards/requirements, codes and products..
